Customizing the Vision Toolbar
The Vision Toolbar is good for more than Vision! It allows teachers to put their favorite teaching tools from several MasterSolution products at their fingertips. Any feature from compatible MasterSolution products can be added to the Vision Toolbar so that it contains only the items you need the most. See how to do this by clicking on the link below:

Vision and the Windows XP SP2 Release

What is it?
In August, Microsoft released SP2 for Windows XP. This update is comprised largely of security enhancements, among them a new personal IP firewall that is turned ON by default. Such firewalls can interfere with network-based applications, as they block communications. FXSP2 is a utility that configures the new Windows XP SP2 built-in firewall to work properly with Vision.

Who needs it?
If your network computers are running Windows XP SP2 with the built-in firework enabled, you need FXSP2. Most networked computers are not configured this way, but instead rely upon an external firewall that separates the network from the broader Internet. In that case, FXSP2 is not required.

However, since the Windows XP SP2 firewall is turned ON by default, users may have issues with the firewall regardless of whether or not it is needed. Consult with your network administrator to decide how your organization wishes to use the new security features of SP2.

What does it do?
FXSP2 is a Wizard-style application that is run on each computer after Vision is installed in a classroom or lab. It analyzes the network settings of Vision and adjusts the Windows firewall appropriately so that the Vision Teacher workstation can communicate with the student workstations.
