App-Control Success - Continued
The reports from teachers using App-Control in their classrooms since its release last month have been remarkable. App-Control is a new plug-in for Vision6 that helps instructors focus student attention by confining computer work to only teacher-selected applications during lesson time. Imagine being able to send out a test and know that the students can only work in the chosen application until they are finished. App-Control helps teachers remove the distractions of surfing, email, games and chat during important class assignments.

Just to keep you updated, we want to show you a few of the features that teachers have been talking about:

Launch and Lock Applications
Teachers choose applications to launch and lock on student computers. Multiple applications can be chosen for the class. Programs can be run in either 'standard' mode, meaning that the students can use the computers normally, or launched in ‘Kiosk’ mode.

In 'Kiosk' mode, the Start menu is hidden and students can only run the applications chosen by the teacher. Teachers report that they love being able to control which applications the students are using.

Send a Website to the Class
In the classrooms we observe while designing our products, we often see teachers being forced to write long URLS on the board for the students. Now teachers can put the entire class on the same web page instantaneously. Type the URL into the ‘run window’ (shown here) or simply drag it from the browser address bar to launch a web page. We are being told by teachers that this is a real time-saver during class.

Share Documents from the Teacher’s Desktop
Any document on the teacher’s computer can be shared with the entire class just by using the right mouse button. The document is sent to the student computers and automatically opened, after which each student can make changes or save his or her own copy for study. This is another great time saver, giving teachers an easy way to send any document with a simple mouse click.
